Historic Shady Lane is an outdoor wedding venue, but with being so, we are always planning ahead for the weather. With two rain plans built into our operation, couples always have ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception coverage for their wedding day.

Option 1: Ceremony in the Greenhouse
Historic Shady Lane’s 1890s greenhouse is well-suited for intimate ceremonies, but can accommodate up to 120 guests seated. With glass windows and a metal rough, natural light abounds and the rain bounces calmly off the tin overhead.
For guest comfort, the Greenhouse at Historic Shady Lane includes windows that may be opened or closed, as well as ceiling fans and heaters. The Greenhouse is an idea setting for a rainy day ceremony, with guests flowing into the tent for cocktail hour and ceremony following the reception.

Option 2: Ceremony in the Reception Tent
Historic Shady Lane’s 4,000 square foot reception tent accommodates 225 guests for a wedding reception, inclusive of tables for food, drink, and a dance area. With clear-window sides that open and close, fans, and heaters, the reception tent at Historic Shady Lane is comfortable and spacious.
For weddings with over 120 guests, Historic Shady Lane provides a covered ceremony space using the reception tent. For ease of set up and a seamless transition from ceremony to reception, guests are seated at their reception seats, and ceremony is on the dance floor.
Following the ceremony, guests are invited to the greenhouse and garden house areas for cocktail hour, and returning later to the tent again for the wedding reception!
