Browse photos from Morgan and Quinn’s early September wedding at Historic Shady Lane. With a Rose Garden ceremony, greenhouse cocktail hour, and tented reception, their wedding was classy, yet intimate and brought to life all that our York County wedding venue has to offer.

September is one of the best months of the year for an outdoor wedding, because mornings and evenings are starting to bring the cool of autumn air, and Historic Shady Lane’s outdoor spaces are still lush with greenery and garden blooms.
First Look and Private Vows at the Bandstand
Historic Shady Lane’s bandstand was the site of early 1900s concerts in the era of Frederick Small’s summer estate. While the structure is newly rebuilt following damage to the original, the space is timeless and elegant, making it the perfect location for portraits, first looks, and private vows.

Ceremony in the Rose Garden
Morgan and Quinn chose to host their ceremony in the Rose Garden, where the aisle is lined by 20th century cobblestone, and the greenery of the trees and ivy sets a magical backdrop. With pink rose bushes blooming along the creek, guests enjoy a serene setting while seated for the ceremony.

Cocktail Hour in the Greenhouse
Historic Shady Lane’s 1890s greenhouse is the perfect setting for post-ceremony cocktails and appetizers for your friends and family. With a concrete patio in the front, and a grass and concrete patio behind it, the glass and stone greenhouse is the ideal space for guests to sip, eat, and converse together.
With the opportunity to relax in the shade of the trees at a hi-top table, or seated in a lounge in the greenhouse, guests will be talking about the uniqueness of the setting for years to come.

Tented Reception Area Historic Shady Lane
With white draping and crystal chandeliers, Historic Shady Lane’s reception tent is classic and elegant, allowing for any style of wedding. Morgan and Quinn’s wedding colors of sage green, creams, and golds accented the space and brought in the natural outdoor greenery of Historic Shady Lane into their reception in a seamless way.

Champagne Wall Toast
Upon entering the tent for the reception, guests were welcomed to enjoy a champagne toast before heading to their seats. Champagne walls are a fun way to get the party started!

Sneaking Away for Sunset Photos
Sunset photos are a must-have on wedding days. Blake Events worked these portraits seamlessly into the timeline for the reception, allowing for some intimate reconnection between the couple and a moment to sneak away for some of the best wedding photos in the gallery.

Have Your Cake…and Eat Your Ice Cream, Too!
Historic Shady Lane welcomes all types of vendors, from traditional bakers for your wedding cake, to food trucks for late night bites and dessert! Morgan and Quinn treated their guests to Perry Dell Farm’s hand-dipped ice cream, in addition to assorted desserts which were served in the tent.

Dancing the Night Away
The best way to end a wedding reception is with great music, and being surrounded by friends and family. The dance party is one of our favorite parts of a wedding day, because guests are letting loose and sharing in the joy of the celebration!
