While Historic Shady Lane’s traditional wedding season only runs May through October, we are happy to extend into the first weekend in November for couples who desire full fall color and chilly days.
Sarah and Grant celebrated their marriage with a stunning backdrop of greens, golds, and oranges, with a chic, cozy, and fun reception to follow in our elegantly decorated reception tent.

Getting Ready in the Cottage
Sarah and her bridesmaids enjoyed being pampered in our Cottage suite, alongside Sarah’s pup. Historic Shady Lane is dog-friendly, allowing dogs onsite all day, as well as being in the suites with our couples.

Historic Shady Lane’s Cottage suite was built in 1911, and includes vintage touches that offer both comfort and charm. With 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen and dining room, sitting room area, salon suite, and 3 rooms for dressing and storage, the Cottage is the ideal space for getting ready on wedding mornings.

First Look and Private Vows in the Yard
One of our favorite parts of a wedding day is when our couples see each other for the first time and share private vows with each other before standing in front of their guests for the ceremony.

With 34 acres of space, every piece of Historic Shady Lane’s grounds boast lush greenery and idyllic photo backdrops. Just outside the Cottage, couples enjoy a back drop of lawn, ivy, and trees, making it a perfect location for first looks and exchanging vows privately.
Wedding Portraits at the Bandstand
The foundation of the Bandstand at Historic Shady Lane was established in the early 1900s, when the property was the summer home of York industrialist, Frederick Small.

This part of the estate is an iconic photo opportunity, offering our couples a photo setting that stands the test of time and trend. With a newly-built bandstand structure, November’s color contracts against the whitewashed pillars and provides a stunning backdrop for portraits.
A Just-Before-Sunset Ceremony in the Rose Garden
The Rose Garden is a unique ceremony location at Historic Shady Lane that allows for the sun to filter beautiful through the trees in the backdrop.

With family and friends looking on, Sarah and Grant said “I do” while standing on early 1900s cobblestone and the sun glowing softly behind them. Other features of the Rose Garden include English ivy, arborvitae, roses, and hydrangeas.
Cocktail Hour in Historic Shady Lane’s Greenhouse
A guest favorite, Historic Shady Lane’s Greenhouse is the perfect spot for eating, drinking, and mingling. With 2 patio spaces and a beautiful stone and glass covered greenhouse, this cocktail hour setting sets the tone for the evening and acts as a special historical treat between ceremony and reception.

Depending on our couples catering choice, guests may enjoy browsing a grazing table, or pick from passed appetizers. We always open up the space for yard games and our couples’ personal touches!

Chic and Cozy Reception at Historic Shady Lane
Historic Shady Lane’s reception rent is an elegant and lovely space to host dinner and dancing for your wedding celebration. With space for up to 225 guests, 4,000 square foot concrete floor, white draping, and crystal chandeliers, it can be a blank canvas or a finished space for any style of wedding.

Sarah and Grant hired A to Z Rentals for additional bistro lighting, cross-back wooden chairs, and chic wood-style dance floor, and other chic touches. Historic Shady Lane welcomes any wedding style and design vision, and we can’t wait to help you bring yours to life, too!
